Police officers were invited to the 800 building block of Smyth Road – southeast of the center of Otoba – about 3 noon Friday, where 87-year-old Richard Rutherford, from Ottawa, was found dead. Philippe Hebert, a 69-year-old man from Ottawa, has been charged with second-degree murder. Hebert appeared in court Saturday morning and remains in custody. Police are investigating the murder of an elderly man. Officers were called to a residence at 800 block on Smyth Rd. around 3pm today where the man was found dead.
